Paulo Duarte Branco is a Coordinating Professor at the Instituto Superior de Tecnologias Avançadas (ISTEC – Lisbon), where he teaches and coordinates several curricular units in the fields of applied technologies, multimedia, and pedagogical methodologies. He serves as Chair of the Pedagogical Council, coordinates the Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Engineering, and leads the Office for Educational Projects and Internationalisation, overseeing multiple national and European initiatives (Erasmus+).
He is an integrated researcher at CIAC – Research Centre in Arts and Communication, where, within the Digital Literacy and Social Inclusion research cluster, he has developed over the past two decades an academic path focused on the intersection of technology, education, and inclusion.
He holds a PhD in Multimedia in Education from the University of Aveiro. His doctoral thesis, entitled TVCOMmunity: Arquiteturas | Avaliação | Contextos educativos, explores the use of interactive television as a learning resource.
His research interests include digital technologies applied to teaching and training, with a particular focus on gamification, pedagogical mediation in digital environments, and the development of educational resources. He is also dedicated to promoting critical digital literacy, technology-mediated social inclusion, and the study of emerging educational practices involving artificial intelligence, multimodal environments, and lifelong learning. His approach combines theoretical and practical perspectives, aiming to foster educational transformation and strengthen active digital citizenship.
